Summary:
Penguin Computing Managed Services provides dedicated Storage Administration for environments involving high-performance computing, cloud, and enterprise systems. This position requires Linux and storage technical skills and the ability to work in a team environment. The successful candidate will be able to understand, document, configure, administer, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in storage systems in Linux environments. This is a customer-facing position. Successful candidates must have good communication skills, a friendly demeanor, and be able to remain calm, focused, and organized.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, install, and configure network accessible storage in a Linux-based, high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) environment, featuring a wide range of technologies.
- Render professional and timely user support for storage devices and applications.
- Maintain the designed level of performance of storage systems and the systems that rely on them by monitoring systems and maintaining customer storage hardware and software.
- Troubleshoot storage software and hardware issues.
- Document what you do, what you know and communicate with team members.
- Provide documentation for storage deployments or systems that rely on them
- Maintain Operations documentation for storage-based platforms
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with modern application deployment practices including but not limited to HPC Schedulers/Orchestration, Docker/Singularity Containers and Kubernetes.
- Exposure to data and I/O requirements for GPU technology and workloads.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- In-depth software development or data science experience or HPC systems management
Experience/Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Solid technical foundation in distributed computing and storage, including significant experience with most of the following: server systems, storage, I/O, networking, and systems software.
- Demonstrated skills in cluster-based network accessible file systems such as RedHat CEPH, Pure Storage Evergreen, RedHat Gluster, Lustre, Isilon or others.
- Highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work successfully with multi-functional teams
- Experience working with modern distributed and parallel file systems and technologies including but not limited to federated IO, memory centric IO, high performance IO and capacity optimized IO workloads.
- Understanding of future storage trends, data life cycle management, and data governance and retention.
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with management and engineering.
- Strong time-management and organization skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Performance analysis and benchmarking experience.
- Working knowledge with at least one of C, C++, Java, Linux Shell Scripting, Python
Travel:
- Travel up to 40% may be required
