Job description
There are no education or experience qualifications or requirements for this position. Candidates must have the physical ability to perform work consisting of light or medium to heavy physical labor. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. This position is not tenure-bearing.
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- Afternoon Shift: 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM
- Overnight Shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
These positions are conveniently located at the New York State Fairgrounds at 581 State Fair Boulevard, Syracuse, New York. We offer a professional and comfortable working environment with ample free parking. These are Labor Class, CSEA-represented positions that offer a competitive pay rate of $16.36/hr.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Clean and maintain event facilities
- Empty trash and recycling containers and properly dispose of items
- Clean and re-stock bathrooms
- Clean event buildings – sweeping floors; mopping; scrubbing; vacuuming; window cleaning.
- Shovel snow and apply ice-melt material to sidewalks and building entry points
- Shovel animal manure to clean barn stalls after horse, animal and livestock events.
- Use leaf blower and yard tools to clean outdoor areas.
- Set up tables and chairs for special events and meetings.
- Transport and set up picnic tables; benches; barricades for events.
- Strip and wax floors.
- Operate event buildings – lock/unlock doors.
- Operate building lighting and HVAC systems.
- Act as direct contact for event promoters and respond to miscellaneous needs throughout events.

The New York State Fair and Fairgrounds are used to promote and highlight New York State and its agriculture, commerce, arts, and sciences to residents of the State of New York.
