Staff Accountant - Finance Department (Roscommon Office - Middletown)
Job description
The Staff Accountant will be primarily responsible for the Monthly, Quarterly and Annual reporting and budgeting for DMHAS, CSSD, DOC, DCF , DOH and others funders as required. This position plays a key role in the monthly close process, creating journal entries, doing bank and balance sheet reconciliations, insurance allocation and monthly billing. The Staff Accountant reports to the Controller. The Staff Accountant reports to the Controller. This is a full time non-exempt position. The eligible candidate for this position would work full-time, 40 hours, 1st shift, Monday - Friday.
Working within Administrative Services, the Accountant is part of the Finance team that supports smooth operations for agency programs across the state. The Connection provides essential services to people in need of assistance for homelessness, substance use treatment, behavioral healthcare, and returning to communities after incarceration.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- 1 -5 years of general accounting experience (Non-profit and payroll experience preferred, but not required)
- MIP experience preferred but not required
- Valid Connecticut Driver’s License
- Regular and predictable attendance is required
- The Connection Inc. complies with Executive Order 13G. Any employee hired on or after September 27, 2021 must either be vaccinated against COVID-19 or apply for a medical or religious exemption and be approved. If approved, you must submit to weekly testing as required in each program
Orientation: If selected for employment with The Connection, newly hired employees will be required to attend a two (2) day mandatory New Hire Orientation at our Roscommon office located in Middletown.
