Responsibilities:
- Engage with groups of youth (elementary through middle school) members on a weekly basis.
- Initiate, plan, implement, and oversee programs related to career exploration, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship.
- Program plans should incorporate the 5 Key Elements (fun, safety, expectations & opportunities, recognition, and supportive relationships), follow the program schedule, and meet the overall goals of the organization.
- Utilize techniques to gain control of the program group and ensure members are fully engaged.
- Communicate clear and simple instructions to members before each program and activity to ensure that members understand the rules, expectations, and directions.
- Provide positive feedback, encouragement, and recognition for members.
- Incorporate Trauma-Informed practices into all interactions.
- Remain flexible with room transitions, utilization, and program schedules.
- Support with the cleaning & organization of program spaces.
- Track and report program attendance.
- Track additional Workforce Development-related data.
- Complete Workforce Development training as needed.
- Review needs of members with Operations staff and refer families to services as needed.
- Meet regularly with supervisor: Director of Workforce Development.
- Assist with special projects and assignments directed by the Director of Workforce Development.
- Operate under the standards and supervision of the South Elgin Operations Manager.
- Work closely with Youth Development Assistants and volunteers during site hours to ensure optimal support, engagement, and safety of members.
- Support regular on-site staff as needed.
- Maintain positive and professional communication & relationships with members, staff, parents, and any other community partners.
- If eligible, become 12-passenger van certified to provide member transportation for career & college trips when needed.
Job Type: Part-time
- Pay: From $15 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday from 1:45-7:00pm
Experience:
· At least 1 year of youth development or youth mentoring experience
· At least 1 year of experience leading or working with WFD programs
Education:
- High school diploma required
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
