JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: Serve as an effective liaison for teachers, administrators, parents and students between school, home and community agencies for the purpose of improving the overall learning experience for children. Focus to be on prevention as well as correction.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Physical stamina to handle challenging work schedules.
  • Exercises sound judgment on sensitive issues.
  • Ability to maintain effective and cooperative relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Ability to organize, work with details and follow through.
  • Possess a personal interest in helping youth succeed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree in social work. Masters prefered.
  • Current Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training or be willing to be trained
  • Practicum experience or on-the-job experience in providing social services or counseling assistance.
  • Demonstrate effective human relations skills and understanding of principles of youth development.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES:


  • Participate in all District provided professional development focused on developing behavioral intervention skills.
  • Participate and work as a collaborative member of the school district’s CiT3 Team providing professional guidance on intervention strategies for referred students.
  • Provide behavioral intervention to students identified by the CiT3 Team developing a plan of action to assist students in positive behavioral change.
  • Demostrate ability to plan and evaluate strategies for improving instruction.
  • Demonstrates exceptional skill in the roles of: collaborator, action researcher, reflective practitioner, and learner advocate
  • Works collaboratively with the school district’s Student Services Dept to provide evidence-based programming to students.
  • Works independently to problem-solve challenging situations.
  • Communicate with assigned CiT3 team members, related to departmental and/or grade level goals
  • Refer students and/or families requiring long-term intervention to outside resources such as social agencies, physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other professionals.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill
  • Compliance with FERPA, and all federal and state confidentiality laws.
    Other duties as assigned
