SHIFT/PASS DAYS: 8:30am - 5:00pm, Saturday/Sunday with flexibility of occasional evenings or weekends.

Travel: Occasional travel may be required

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of the DDPS1, the function of the position provides essential services in the Self-Direction (SD) unit and coincides with the expectations of the core mission of OPWDD to provide necessary services to individuals with disabilities. Specifically, this position is critical to Self-Direction efforts as the SD unit is directly responsible for reviewing and approving all Self Direction budgets.

PRIMARY DUITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties include but are not limited to:

· Review and approve budget types: Start Up, Initial, Amended and Cost Neutral Budget Amendments

· Assist in facilitating Self-Direction Information Sessions for Individuals and Families

· Assist in facilitating Self-Direction Broker Training Series for new Brokers to provide Self-Direction services for Individuals/families

· Assist in facilitating Fiscal Intermediary training series for new FI agencies providing Self-Direction services for individuals/families.

· Review and approve Choices DDP1's for voluntary agencies to begin the Self-Direction services

· Provide general and specific information and answer questions for individuals/families about Self-Direction services

· Provide general and specific information to voluntary provider agencies for Self-Direction services

· Maintaining Self-Direction tracking, data, and general information

· Other duties as assigned

NOTE: Travel will be required in the performance of the duties of the position. This may include a state-owned vehicle, as available, or the employee’s own car. An employee who uses his/her own car will be reimbursed at current negotiated rates.

SELECTION PROCESS:

Selection will be based on interview and a review of current and past performance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· In title Social Work Assistant 3, Grade 17.

OR

· Eligible for a 70.1 transfer by way of current permanent status in a title deemed comparable to Social Work Assistant 3 by the Department of Civil Service (must also be within 2 salary grades of grade 17)

OR –

  • Qualify for Provisional appointment by meeting the minimum qualifications on the Social Worker 3 examination announcement.
