Small Cell RF Tech Installer
Position Summary
Part of an installation crew of 1 - 2 technicians primarily focused on field activities associated with construction and installation of Small Cell Nodes. Installation of various RF components, such as installing the pole itself, radios and antennas, coax installation, connectors, grounding, weatherproofing, fiber optic cable, and other components. Perform Coax Sweeps, PIM test, and Fiber testing per company or customer specified MOP’s. Assist with troubleshooting new and existing Small Cell Nodes to identify failures or configuration issues and correct as needed. Daily communicating and coordinating with management related to specific safety, local codes, and company installation requirements. Mentoring and leading less experienced technicians.
Responsibilities for RF technician
· Small Cell pole installation, including radio and network equipment on small cell poles new and existing with aerial strands (COLO’s)
· Installation of fiber, coax, ground, power cabling and additional ancillary cabling required.
· Coax splicing, Site Surveys, Sweep and PIM testing, Fiber testing via OTDR
· All phases of telecommunication construction include but are not limited to: Loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal and placement of various types, sizes and weight of construction materials and equipment
· Safely use hand tools and equipment such as wrenches, drills, ladders, lanyards, (most handheld power tools), heat guns and more
· Safely operate mechanized equipment such as bucket trucks
· Setting up safety perimeter using signage, cones, safety barriers
· This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week
· This position operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· 2 years as a RF Technician installing Small cell nodes required.
· Be able to obtain DOT physical card (non CDL related)
· Excellent analytical and organizational skills
· RF awareness course a plus
· Knowledge of Anritsu testing equipment
· Be willing to travel out of area for weeks at a time
· Dependable, flexibility to work weekends and holidays, as needed
· Work independently under minimal supervision
· Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for project build process
Desired Qualifications
· Ability to safely work overhead in bucket lifts and equipment in a safe manner
· Possess a valid driver’s license and willing to obtain the required certifications for the position
· Basic knowledge of and ability of hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
· Ability to communicate effectively with employees
· Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
· Able to lift/carry 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100 lbs. as needed with or without assistance
· The employee will need to have the ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time), tolerate work in extreme weather conditions, speak and hear worksite safety instructions, withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching, feeling, crouching, and crawling
Requirements:
· Must be able to lift 75-100 pounds
· Must have valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
· Travel is required
· CPR and First aid certification required
· Verifiable business references required
