The Slope Technician's primary duties are installation, operation, administration, and maintenance of all Alaska Communications services,
facilities, and products in assigned work areas, remote and non-remote. This is including but is not limited to terrestrial (buried and aerial) Copper and Fiber Optic Plant, Transport Systems (both network and CPE), Ethernet Switches, Central Office power systems, Wi-Fi, and VSAT Networks.

The technician will be the primary point of contact (POC) for all trouble calls and restoration of client premise services. Responsible for leading temporary project-based crews assigned by the company to complete work for clients.

Examples of Job Duties

  • All of the Slope Technician duties

  • Perform all line conditioning testing; along with end-to-end tests for installation of data transport equipment from the Central Office to the customer premise, utilizing a variety of basic and complex test equipment, and switch and system based testing facilities to ensure proper installation and testing of new systems

  • Installs, build-outs, repeater cases, or other transmission improvement devices of Core network facilities

  • Perform fault location on core network infrastructure by use of test sets and working with a core team of facility engineers

  • Configuration of vendor-specific cards and equipment

  • Determine the appropriate action or solution to deliver high-quality service to our customers by interpreting relevant test results and customer
feedback in light of the customer's needs.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED, and 1-year experience working in remote job sites living in company-provided housing or camp
environments.

Three (3) years of Telecomm/IT or other technical services. In addition, Slope Technician II must have an additional three (3) years of training in
relevant telephone apprentice program or equivalent experience leading to a journeyman level performance in this specialty, with three (3) years
experience in the skills and work this position will typically perform.

Certificates & Licenses:

Slope Technicians are required to have and maintain vendor and/or customer-specific training and/or certifications.

You must possess and maintain a driver's license, as well as a valid Certificate of Medical Examination (Medical Card). Driving record must meet
Company requirements

You must complete the North Slope Training Co-operative (NSTC) safety course, with the Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) I Iron Sulfide (FeS) Course. This course is provided to ensure that personnel working in H2S/FeS designated areas on the North Slope can recognize the hazardous characteristics of H2S/FeS and can correctly apply the standards, procedures, and emergency response practices for potential exposures.

Safely operate and properly use all vehicles, equipment, and tools necessary to complete the work orders associated with this position.

The willingness and ability to work a 12-hour day/night shift with 2/2 weeks on/off rotational schedule on the North Slope of Alaska.

Willingness to live and sustain in austere conditions, including working in remote locations under arctic conditions. A Slope Technician will reside
at the remote site for a two-week period for both working and non-working hours. All applicable company and client HSE rules, standards, and policies must be followed at all times at remote sites.

Remain eligible to work on client property.

Experience in oil field environments is preferred. North Slope's work experience within the Telecom Industry supporting the Oil and Gas industry is
preferred.
