About KSRB:
Ken Sanders Rare Books is a full-service antiquarian bookshop established in 1997 in downtown Salt Lake City. We have a vast inventory of used and rare books, a handful of new books, and an ever-changing selection of art, ephemera, maps, photographs, and postcards. We also offer book purchasing and appraisal services.
Proprietor Ken Sanders has been buying, selling and collecting books since childhood. He co-owned and ran the legendary Cosmic Aeroplane Bookstore in the 1970s and founded Dream Garden Press, our in-house publishing company, in 1980.
About the role:
The Shipping & Receiving role is critical to the success of KSRB. This position includes receiving new inventory, monitoring all online orders and sales sites, communicating with customers, and shipping out orders. This position also covers book fair coordination and shipping. We are looking for someone highly energetic, organized, and committed to outstanding customer service! This is a full-time, onsite position.
As long as you’re committed and proactive, we are willing to provide all necessary training for the position after hiring.
What you’ll be doing:
- Maintaining all KSRB sales sites to ensure orders received are promptly processed and shipped
- Managing the KSRB customer’s online order experience, from initial customer communication to the final shipment of their order
- Coordinating book fair shipments with the cataloging team to make sure all boxes arrive on time
- Updating key tracking documentation and ensuring everyone at KSRB is in the loop on invoice, customer communication, and shipping status for each online order
- Ensuring the shipping and receiving area is clean, organized, and easily accessible to all staff members
- Ensuring new arrivals are quickly processed and organized
- Evaluating and modifying processes to improve efficiency
- Filling in at the bookshop front desk as needed, taking orders and payment from customers
Required skills:
- Ability to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods
- Weekend availability
- Ability to communicate with customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Ability to synthesize orders from many different sites rapidly and efficiently in order to ship sold items as soon as possible
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent documentation and communication to other staff members
- Understanding of and willingness to practice basic safety procedures
