Position Summary:
Primary duties include working with the process to ensure a quality product, cleaning assigned areas systems, assisting the Shift Maintenance person as directed.
All shifts required including Saturday and Sunday and holidays.
Essential Job Accountabilities:
1. Safety: Understand and comply with all safety regulations. Be able to identify and correct safety hazards; participate in regular safety training, safety topic meetings and task training. Cooperate with all external inspectors as necessary.
2. Operate mobile equipment as trained.
3. Labor work as required to expedite production.
4. Labor work as assigned.
5. Will also perform any assignment, operate any equipment, and use any tools required in which the Utility Operator has been trained and qualified, to assist maintenance and production in plant operations.
6. Makes routine walk through inspections of the mill systems as prescribed on the check list and completes the written checklist.
7. Unplugs feeders, bins, chutes, vibrating conveyors and mill feed throats.
8. Troubleshoots the process as directed by the shift foreman and/or control room operator which includes, but is not limited to, unplugging chutes, silos, feeders, drag conveyors, belt conveyors, hoppers, etc., inspecting thermocouples, cleaning out pressure transmitter tubing and taps, monitoring oil pressure and temperatures, monitoring bearing temperatures, vibration and noise, inspecting safety lanyards, motion and drift switches, inspection of cooling water systems, grinding aid systems, plant water systems, inspection of rollers, head pulleys, take up pulleys and belt cleaners, monitoring of kiln shell temperatures
9. Uses process judgement in evaluating cooler conditions, flame characteristics, and dust collector efficiencies.
10. Cleans assigned areas, lubricates equipment and does manual labor.
Essential Job Requirements:
EDUCATION
Must successfully complete on-the-job training provided by the designated department supervisor or otherwise qualified employee. High School diploma preferred. Must be capable of completing MSHA training as required for the job.
EXPERIENCE
3 years industrial, military or construction experience preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Respirator use. May be exposed to dust, noise, heat, high elevations, and all weather conditions. Must be able to climb steps and ladders. Good eyesight, hearing, and manual dexterity. Must be able to stand or sit while operating equipment for long periods of time. Capability to use standard labor tools such as jackhammers, shovels and sledge hammers.
