Position Summary
The Thermal/Fluids Test Engineer will lead our ECLSS testing efforts. The Thermal/Fluids Test Engineer will be a member of the ECLSS team and play a key role in the development and testing of all ECLSS subsystems.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop test plans, test designs, test procedures, and test reports.
  • Lead Test Design and Readiness Reviews.
  • Lead and/or perform tests, within the lab or at remote sites.
  • Be able to identify, purchase, and use proper test instrumentation and control components including, but not limited to, pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, strain gauges, accelerometers, flow meters, load cells, relays, solenoid valves.
  • Be able to program in DAQ-supported languages to acquire data and define and execute control logic.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and subsystem leads to ensure that the tests are designed and executed to be informative and meet verification requirements.
  • Design and develop any customized test equipment and ground support equipment needed for testing and operations.
  • Mentor/train junior engineers.

Requirements:

  • 4-year degree from an accredited college or university in mechanical engineering or similar field (science/engineering). Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in a lab test environment.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of
  • thermal and fluid system fundamentals
  • electrical and electronics related testing hardware
  • thermal/fluids laboratory test safety protocols
  • Hands on experience building prototypes and running tests.
  • Able to program DAQ software for data acquisition and control development.
  • Experience with CAD (NX or On Shape preferable).
  • Familiarity with handling of high-pressure gas (< 5000 psi).
  • Solid written and oral communication skills.
  • Awareness of financial and commercial considerations.
  • Must be a team player and be able to function in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficiency with the use of Microsoft suite of products.
  • Willingness and ability to occasionally work long hours and weekends, and travel as required.
  • Ability to pass NASA background checks.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
