Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) degree. Five years of full-time research experience in cancer research using animal tumor models, to include at least three years of research experience following attainment of a doctoral degree. NIH grant writing experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Biomedical Sciences.
- Research experience in molecular and cellular research.
- Research experience in environmental cancer risk factors, lung cancer, breast cancer, and cancer cell Metastasis.
- Demonstrated research productivity with first author publications in high quality journals.
- Evidence of ability to independently plan, design, and conduct research and present findings.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Senior Research Scientist will conduct research with Sr. Faculty members of the Stony Brook Cancer Center and Department of Pathology. The incumbent will independently design research and ensure that all research protocols follow the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. The incumbent will serve as the lead scientist in the Lab.
Duties:
- Plan, design and implement research experiments in the field of environmental cancer to achieve research objective(s).
- Preparation of papers for publications, presentation of results in scientific conferences, workshops and seminars.
- Preparation of grant proposals and application of grants.
- Supervise, plan, organize and evaluate the activities of others including postdoctoral associates, research support positions and graduate assistants.
- Maintain all laboratory records consistent with University policy
- Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
