SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER

OLBN is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our A/E design studio in Rockville, MD. This position provides an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and hard-working, seasoned engineer to join a dynamic group of Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry professionals in a technology driven, collaborative environment. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will support OLBN’s engineering team as the technical lead for projects in the development of mechanical and plumbing systems calculations/ analyses, construction documents, specifications, and other design documentation. This position is also responsible for, with minimal oversight, independent design activities and oversight/review of design documentation produced by Junior and Staff Mechanical Engineers, from design inception through construction completion. The successful candidate shall be highly competent and possess progressive technical experience in HVAC, plumbing and controls design and detailing, building codes and standards, and associated product knowledge. In addition, the successful candidate shall be a motivated self-starter who values teamwork as well as individual contribution/accountability and, through exceptional performance, is seeking opportunities for advancement in the management/leadership of a firm. Basic Requirements:

Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline

Certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) required; Industry certifications and/or affiliations preferred

Years of experience: 10+ in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline.

Background: U.S. Citizen or legal resident with ability to pass background investigation

Key Skills and Responsibilities:

· Supports design activities as the project design team’s senior professional, directing and managing independent design development and production of Junior and Staff Mechanical Engineers.

· Has responsibility and accountability to OLBN leadership for individual and team execution of design activities to include calculations, reports, design drawings and specifications in support of project requirements.

· Reviews and interprets established codes, design standards, regulations, and other industry information to ensure proper application on design projects.

· Leads or participates in surveys and assessments of existing conditions.

· Individually produces, and reviews work produced by Junior and Staff Mechanical Engineers, for mechanical and plumbing systems design; produces red-line edits for correction and conducts back-checks for finalization.

· Highly proficient in systems analysis / calculation software.

· Works on multiple technically complex projects at various stages of completion concurrently.

· Leads coordination efforts with other architectural, engineering, and technical staff, both internal and external, to ensure accuracy and technical proficiency of project submissions.

· Works closely and interacts regularly with OLBN clients.

· Responsible for the mentorship and training of Junior and Staff Mechanical Engineers.

· Acts as Engineer of Record (EOR) as required

· Works effectively under pressure while meeting established budgets and schedules.

· Supports quality control and quality assurance of all deliverables with a focus on personal accountability and continuous improvement.

· General understanding / familiarity with technology (hardware and software).

· Position involves overtime, as required, to meet project deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
