Job Description:
Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Senior Environmental Specialist within the Technical and Environmental Services Division working offsite at Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) in Baltimore, MD. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of data processing, analysis and visualization.
This position will manage, or assist in managing, portions of work as a member of a multidisciplinary team of environmental scientists, engineers, and energy professionals. This position will be vital to helping MEA pursue and oversee opportunities stemming from the recent Infrastructure, Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, and the Inflation Reduction Act as well as other ongoing federal opportunities. Collectively, MEA anticipates an unprecedented number of opportunities to obtain and deploy funds to help the state of Maryland achieve its energy goals. The ideal candidate will be part of the Compliance Support Team to provide overarching support in the identification, quality control, monitoring, oversight, and partnership development related to obtaining federal grants. This position will also provide support to the MEA grant and rebate program providing work planning, and general supervision of the work performance.
Estimated Pay Range:
$48,191.52 - $66,263.79

Minimum Requirements:
Required qualifications for this position include bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, ecology or similar degree from an accredited college or university plus 3 years of experience in environmental science, regulations, engineering, or management. One year of experience must have included responsibility managing environmental projects and providing leadership to other professional and technical staff. Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred skills for this position include: strong verbal, technical writing and organizational skills, the ability to work in a team environment with all levels of policy and technical staff. Experience in a data-related position, energy, or regulatory environment preferred. Experience with salesforce, Excel, and/or Tableau are pluses.
