Purpose
The Senior Consumer Lending Specialist provides front-line support to consumer lending staff across the organization on the interpretations of lending policies, guidelines, and procedures related to consumer loans and credit cards. Also works strategically within the department on process improvements and product enhancements. This position serves in a leadership role and provides guidance to other employees within the department.
Duties
Train new employees on departmental tasks and serve in a supervisory role.
Act as a resource to credit union staff for questions on loan policies and procedures.
Serve as main point of contact and assists with the administration and processing of credit insurance and GAP claims.
Serve as main point of contact for processing credit card balance transfer requests.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of all consumer and credit card lending processes, procedures and tasks.
Demonstrate proficient knowledge of all lending products, policies and procedures.
Assist the Lending Development teams with training materials for consumer lending staff.
Ensure consumer lending manuals and resources are updated.
Ensure compliance with various regulations and laws pertaining to consumer and credit card lending.
Research new consumer lending product and service offerings to identify opportunities to increase the consumer lending portfolio.
Make necessary changes to department manuals to keep them updated.
Ability to address and resolve problem scenarios that arise.
Navigate the consumer loan origination and servicing systems to assist consumer lending staff and complete departmental duties.
Complete additional tasks assigned by management.
Requirements
Five or more years of consumer lending experience. Minimum of 2-3 years of SECU experience preferred.
4-year degree, CCUE Certification, or Associate in Arts degree or Associate in Science degree via the North Carolina College Transfer Program (NC-CTP) preferred.
Must possess the highest level of integrity and objectivity.
Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Must be able to communicate with branch and operations staff, VPs, SVPs, members, etc.
Meets compliance and regulatory standards.
Must exhibit a strong initiative to learn new tasks.
Must have in-depth understanding of consumer and credit card lending.
Must be a team player and exemplify a helpful attitude to provide assistance to others as needed.
Must display a high level of technical aptitude. In depth knowledge of the consumer loan origination and servicing systems is required.
Must possess an independent work ethic as well as excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
Must be a leader with all department procedures and technical expertise.
Must be organized and detail oriented.
Must be willing to engage in ongoing training and professional development.
Must have basic computer skills.
Must be able to speak English fluently.
Must understand and be dedicated to the Credit Union philosophy and work ethic.
Must adhere to the work schedule and attendance policies established by the Credit Union.
Job Environment
Office setting with physical proximity to other employees and members. Some background noise from other employees, copy machine, and telephone. Some local travel may be required. Possibility of remote/hybrid work.
Physical Demands
Must be able to comprehend and carry out job demands.
Job requires a substantial amount of sitting.
Use hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard to enter or retrieve information.
Use hands and fingers to press telephone keypad and lift telephone receiver.
Must be able to comprehend phone calls.
