Position Summary:

As a Senior Collections Representative, you will manage the collection of high revenue portfolio of commercial accounts for a successful and goal oriented 3PL. You will focus on improving the overall status of accounts by communicating with customers to increase daily cash flow, reduce risk and total outstanding balances.

Essential Duties:

  • Research both major and small accounts and recognize those which are aged beyond the set agreed terms and initiate collections of past due receivables.
  • Proactively use multiple resources to research, resolve and respond to complex customer issues by gathering information, analyzing data, and finding root causes.
  • Preparation and dispersion of customer statement of accounts using Excel on a scheduled weekly/bi-weekly basis or upon request as well as distribution of past due freight bills and invoices if needed.
  • Assist Manager to ensure that daily team operations flow smoothly (i.e., progress of assigned work, manage deadlines, quality assurance and accounts are being covered) and support team members when needed.
  • Monitor and keep excellent record of customer calls and emails as well as log account status in the AS400 “scratchpad”
  • Identify billing deficiencies, determine cause for delayed or partial payments and coordinate with billing and pricing teams as needed to bring to resolution.
  • Generate weekly status reports of assigned portfolio aging and payment status to the Sr Manager.
  • Utilize customers payment services and/or websites such as but not specific to/or limited to: Data2Logistics, Coupa, Cass Logistics, SharePoint, Partners Online, Ratelinx and US Bank.
  • Work with Information Technology department programmers and billing personnel to identify and resolve customer requests and requirements and EDI failures and resubmits.
  • Special projects – support the collections team in preparing reports or covering accounts if needed within the group to ensure workflow continuation in the absence of other team members
  • Demonstrate a positive and productive outlook to daily problems as they may arise and keep an optimistic mindset with fellow collection, cash application and billing team members.

Required Education, Experience and Ability

  • Associates or Bachelors preferred however years of equivalent experience will be considered.
  • High-volume commercial collections with 5+ years with at least 2 years’ experience in a Logistics, 3PL, Transportation and/or Import environment.
  • Previous experience in rating and coding of freight bills for Truckload, LTL, Warehouse, and Imports is an advantage.
  • Must be able to work full time in office Monday through Friday with availability for overtime on infrequent occasions.
  • Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Strong Excel – Pivots Tables, Sort & Filter data
  • Experience with AS400
  • Meticulous, initiative-taker with a strong work ethic and a high degree of professionalism with customers and fellow coworkers.
  • Communication proficient with good email writing skills.
  • Must have effective time management skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks at a given time.
  • Must be able to work independently based on periodic guidance and direction
  • Must be dependable, assertive, and motivated.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
