We are seeking a Senior Buyer whose primary focus is to provide procurement support for the Engineered Systems and CNG product lines. This position is the primary point of contact regarding purchasing activities for specific projects. In addition, the Senior Buyer works with the Engineered Systems team and management to determine procurement strategies that will best support project and/or future orders while achieving corporate inventory and cost objectives. Successful candidates will be driven, detail-oriented, enthusiastic, organized and excellent communicators.

Responsibilities:

• Serves as the Purchasing representative in project kickoff meetings.
• Supports projects and/or product changes by assisting with sourcing and managing the RFQ process.
• Interviews sales representatives and researches companies to develop new sources of supply and services.
• Negotiates pricing and terms for parts and services.
• Establishes strategic stocking plans and/or blanket purchase agreements with vendors, subject to management approval.
• Analyzes the MRP tickler daily and places purchase orders as required.
• Provides part visibility to team members by maintaining current and accurate PO data in the ERP system.
• Performs vendor audits with the Quality Team
• Manages the Supplier Scorecard system for assigned Vendors.
• Manages Engineered Systems Critical Vendor Annual Audits
• Generates reports that provide status or indicate performance and opportunities.
• Assists with the communication and management of supplier non-conformance issues.
• Assists AP with invoice management and purchased part variance corrections.
• Maintains purchasing records on the Purchasing Data Tree.
• Attends all scheduled kickoff and turn over meetings.
• Works through the MRP tickler at least twice per week.

Requirements:

• 10+ years experience in small-medium size manufacturing companies in a Senior Purchasing role.
• Experience working in a fast-paced Engineering and Production environment (familiar with and can understand drawings and specs).
• Proficient in sourcing and has a good network of vendors.
• Demonstrated experience in cost saving initiatives (either through the company or on their own).
• Can demonstrate a thorough understanding of Purchasing Best Practices through progressive job growth, certifications or education.
• Experienced in managing purchasing tasks utilizing an ERP system.
• Experienced working with suppliers on a global basis, China and Mexico.
• Experienced in measuring supplier performance and initiating corrective action.
• Experienced in performing vendor audits.
• Solid negotiating skills.
• Proficiency using MRP as a planning tool.
• Basic knowledge of lean manufacturing.
• Proficient in MS Excel and Word.
