BMT Aerospace is a well-established and growing aerospace manufacturing machining company that must prepare our team and systems for the future. This is a perfect opportunity for a Senior Buyer with manufacturing experience.

The successful candidate will have experience working with and successfully implementing programs to support Raw Materials, Capital, MRO, and expense purchases in a manufacturing environment; metals industry a plus. A creative and leadership approach to implementing Kan-Ban, JIT, contracting, VMI programs and managing service calls for a variety of needs is desired while supporting our various manufacturing sites domestically and internationally. Must be able to effectively solicit quotations and negotiate with vendors for materials, equipment, and services..

Responsibilities:

• Place orders on basis of best cost, delivery, quality, specifications and service levels desired
• Implement process improvements to minimize tactical administrative requirements, and maximize value add negotiation and supplier development activities
• Report cost savings and cost containment results
• Prepare metrics, reports, to illustrate health and performance of Supply Chain efforts
• Manage competitive bidding process, negotiation, and execution of purchase agreements and maintenance of product specifications
• Must be aware of general budgeting/standard costing management strategies in order to adequately plan and carry out procurement functions in accordance with Corporate and various divisional policies
• Schedule projects, and schedules, with manufacturers based on established deadlines and specific product requirements. Follow up with various Production groups and vendors so that required performance dates are achieved
• Prepare accurate purchase orders to ensure that all specifications are met by vendor, to include accurate receipt of product
• Perform risk assessment for all suppliers, at supplier selection, at supplier development and during series production, to define the right mitigation plans.
• Identify possible risks, mitigate and escalate to safeguard the business needs
• Evaluate the risk that the supplier becomes a competitor of BMT

Special Skills:

• Ability to oversee several simultaneous projects with the proper delegating skills and the precise amount of involvement without interference, allowing the specifically designated personnel to perform their tasks
• Quality assurance methods in the Aerospace manufacturing and outsourcing environment
• Excellent negotiator, with outstanding communication skills both written and verbal.
• Experience with MRP/ERP, purchasing, fabrication of metal components, Investment Castings, Forgings and assembly
• Ability to read mechanical drawings
• Experience with lean manufacturing, supplier partnerships, expertise in supplier selection and contract development
• The position requires judgment, ingenuity, critical thinking and adherence to established policies and procedures
• The ability to manage projects, gather and analyze data, work in a team environment and meet deadlines is critical to success in this position

Qualifications:

• BS in Business, or combination of education and demonstrated work experience required
• 7+ years Supply Chain / Purchasing experience in a highly regulated environment
• Strong MRP skills and experience required
• Working knowledge of Bills of Materials
• Proficient use of Internet, Microsoft office, spreadsheets and data entry
• · Ability to read blue prints that include geometric tolerance, and parameters
• Extensive experience in supporting Raw Material, MRO, Expense, and Capital spend
• Ability to source new items, applies basic qualification standards, and review supplier capabilities
