IDT is looking for an experienced
Senior
Application Support Engineer to join our operations Team.
Application Support is the first line of defense in supporting a variety of applications and services in our production environment. Application Support Engineer works closely with development, QA and System Adminstration teams, DBAs, Network Engineers as well as Product Owners and commercial.
The Sr. Application Support Engineers' duties include troubleshooting application issues, proactively identifying service impacts, performance of root cause analysis, all in collaborating with the NOC, QA/DEV scrum teams, Network Engineers, System Administrators, marketing, commercial, as well as internal/external providers.
As a part of the Application Support Team you will:
- Support a variety of applications and systems across a multitude of products within company’s SLA
- Active participation, contribution and leadership during incident calls (P1-3)
- Analyze data issues, monitor performance, compose DMLs across a multitude of databases
- Participate in software deployments (both manual and automated)
- Handle sensitive customer data management (includes large $ amounts)
- Design procedures, scripts to improve team’s day to day work
- Identify RC of application errors, escalate software to development, and ensure end to end resolution
- Collaboration with the NOC, development scrum teams, Quality Assurance teams, DBAs, Network Engineers, System Administrators, internal application users, and clients to improve application performance
- Keep communication and records up to date (update Jira status, comments, etc)
- Monitor services proactively
- Routine tasks (OpsGenie, CM and BRS Jiras, Reporting)
We would like to see:
- Degree in software engineering, computer science, information technology, computer engineering, or similar field
- Min. of 8-10 years experience as an application support engineer
- Previous experience in a service provider company is a must
- Advanced DB knowledge and SQL skills required
- Strong ability to manage distributed LINUX & WINDOWS applications independently
- Ability to read and write shell scripts, read Perl / Python code
- Experience configuring Apache, IIS or other Web service engines
- Experience using deployment tool (eg: Jenkins, AWS code deploy)
- Experience using APM tools (eg: New Relic). Log Mining Tools (eg: Splunk)
- Experience in DevOps domain (eg: infrastructure as code)
Would be a nice bonus:
- Understanding of problems from user’s perspective
- Understanding requirements from internal customer’s viewpoint
- Motiviated, independent, self driven; go beyond basic daily tasks
- Solid understanding processes (eg: Agile, IDT processes)
- Willingness to share and work as a team!
Work schedule:
- Working week is Monday through Friday. 2am to 10 am EDT
- Work hours are flexible depending on projects / needs of the team.
- No scheduled work on weekends / holidays. However, on-call support is required Monday through Sunday, as well as during holidays (Note: the majority of on-call takes place during the non-sleeping hours in the given time zone).
