Job Description and Duties

Are you looking for a fast-paced and challenging position that will provide you with extremely valuable software development and leadership experience, a variety of assignments, and exposure to multiple levels of management and staff in the Employment Development Department (EDD), Information Technology Branch? The EDD is looking for a highly motivated and qualified individual to work in the State Disability Insurance (SDI) Online Section as a Software Developer.

This position reports to the SDI Development Manager and performs a wide range of object-oriented development and analytical responsibilities on various projects in support of the SDI applications. The Developer will work with customers to identify and define problems or issues, analyze and document business requirements, triage and develop new code as well as maintain existing code working through the System Development Lifecycle. On projects, developer experiences range from assisting with Project Management tasks and managing schedules to facilitating meetings and presenting solutions in addition to their coding assignments.

The successful candidate has excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks with competing deadlines, and can work independently as well as part of a team.

Telework may be available at your home where access to high-speed internet would be required.

This position may be filled at the IT Associate level for recruitment purposes.

Position exists in downtown Sacramento, located at EDD’s Headquarters office at 800 Capitol Mall,
