ProspectBlue is partnered with a company looking to add a Senior Accounting Analyst to their team in Danville, Virginia. This role follows a hybrid work structure. Experience with banking and regulatory reporting is essential for this position.

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Accounting Analyst is responsible for various general ledger account posting and balancing ensuring compliance with general accounting principles.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Balances and reconciles daily general ledger, DDA, cash accounts, suspense and in-process accounts.

2. Ensures completeness, accuracy and timeliness of transactions processed.

3. Conducts research on discrepancies and makes appropriate correction or adjustments.

4. Responds to and resolves inquiries to/from other Bank employees.

5. Posts general ledger and DDA entries and verifies data.

6. Runs and prepares routine financial reports and analyses.

7. Balances due from bank accounts and monitors balances. Draws down to designated limits. Makes certain entries.

8. Processes Federal Reserve check adjustments and records monthly service charges.

9. Responsible for maintaining various financial models.

10. Maintains a thorough knowledge of all products, services, procedures, policies and appropriate regulatory issues relating to daily job functions including but not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act; Privacy; Fair Lending; Regulation E; deposit, transaction and loan accounts.

11. Performs other duties as requested and assigned by Supervisor.

12. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk and hear, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand or walk.

13. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

14. Normal office working environment.

15. Travel to banking offices and training sites as needed.



REQUIRED SKILLS

1. Effective communicator with good verbal and written skills.

2. Strong knowledge of accounting operations and systems.

3. Strong analytical, detailed and problem-solving skills.

4. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

5. Ability to work to daily strict time deadlines and process data effectively and accurately.

6. Strong computer skills.

7. Proficient in Microsoft Office products - Outlook, Word, and Excel.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. Associate Degree in accounting or finance required, and Bachelor Degree preferred.

2. 3-5 years accounting experience preferred.

3. Banking experience preferred.
