Position Summary
Trinity College seeks a staff that reflects the changing demographics of our student body. Working from early November through late March, the Seasonal Reader will be responsible for reviewing first-year applications. To meet weekly reading goals, the Seasonal Reader must be able to devote a minimum of 25 hours/week to the application review process and attend a training session in early November. Seasonal Readers may choose to work remotely or on campus. However, because of our partnered reading process, Seasonal Readers must be available to read from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursdays through November and December and most weekdays beginning in January. The Seasonal Reader must maintain communication with the Admissions Leadership Team and be responsive to guidance and feedback. To read our online applications, the Seasonal Reader must, in a private space, have access to a computer and high-speed internet.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Attend training sessions in early November and participate in the full application reading cycle from November to March.
  • Review first-year applications, including high school transcripts, standardized test scores, personal essays, recommendation letters, and other application materials.
  • Submit detailed application evaluations.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Admissions Leadership Team and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Perform other essential duties and tasks specific to the position as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Ability to read a large volume of files efficiently to expectation and meet specific deadlines.
  • Strong reading and writing skills with an emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Ability to be proactive and work collaboratively as well as independently as part of the Admissions team.
  • Commitment to diversity and a sensitivity to the needs of differing student groups.
  • Well-developed computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Prior experience in admissions will be given preference.
