As a Scrum Master II within Liberty Mutual's Global Cybersecurity group (GCS), you'll play a critical role in shaping the way teams deliver solutions to protect a Fortune 100 organization. You will be the Scrum Master to multiple teams within GCS and responsible for enabling the team to be more effective applying the relevant Agile approach (Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and cultivates an environment that supports Agility. You will coach, mentor and teach team members, proactively seek to eliminate or minimize impact of barriers, and address challenges to team delivery. Your contributions in this role will be an important element of our agile development and delivery practice, helping realize our vision to continuously improve the way we work.
This is a range posting and the description is posted as a Grade 17, Scrum Master II. However, candidates will be considered for the Grade 16 Scrum Master role in the Scrum Master job family. The actual internal level/grade for this role will depend on the candidate's overall experience and skill level.
About the job:
  • Lead daily scrums, sprint reviews, and planning meetings to ensure full team engagement with a focus on growing the capabilities by all team members. Manage interdependencies between agile teams.
  • Work with the Product Owner and team to support short and long-term planning, and to keep work backlog healthy and prepared
  • Shield the teams from external interference to enable optimal functionality and productivity.
  • Provide guidance and insight throughout all service delivery organizational positions (directors, managers, product owners, team members).
  • Assess the Agile maturity of the team and coach them to advance their agile adoption through partnering and influencing change.
  • Collaborate with teams to discover their needs; plan and deliver instruction and coaching while enduring alignment with the organizational strategy.
  • Focus on increasing the skill and understanding of Agile practices and values by actively coaching team members on growth mindset and maturing current Agile adoption.
  • Cultivate a team culture/environment of continuous learning and ensure continuous improvement by establishing quick feedback cycles and leveraging data-driven metrics to identify areas of improvement.
  • Actively seek coaching and mentoring from more experienced SMs and coaches on Lean-Agile techniques and mindset and guides them on their personal change and growth journey.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor`s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and at least 5 years related experience
  • Experience being on multiple Agile teams in a variety of different contexts
  • Scrum certification strongly preferred
  • Experience working in a scaled agile framework preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of business functions and extensive understanding of business operations, strategies and objectives
  • Track record of continued and recent education in Lean-Agile including training, conferences, user groups, cohorts, self-study, etc
Desired Skills
  • Experience guiding agile teams through the ebb and flow of agile transformation
  • Strong knowledge of Agile principles and concepts.
  • Displays strong communication, organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and team building skills.
  • Advanced presentation, influencing, and relationship management skills.
  • Agile certification strongly preferred.
  • Solid project management skills, ability to multitask and manage multiple projects in a cross-functional environment.
