The Safety Specialist is responsible for assisting in the implementation of all DOT Health and Safety compliance for Federal, State, and Local regulations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Works with various department heads to ensure work procedures and policies are followed to maintain a safe working environment.
- Works with Safety Manager/Director and Dispatchers to provide input in yearly Driver evaluations.
- Works in conjunction with the Safety Team on the hiring and termination of Drivers.
- Trains new Drivers to ensure proper training is being taught.
- Assists Safety Manager/Director with terminal management in the south region to ensure compliance and accountability.
- Assists Safety Manager/Director with tank compliance and any foreseeable tank issues.
- Facilitate and perform inspections on company vehicles.
- Attend safety meetings based off need and current issues per location.
- Help maintain and update all aspects of the company to stay within our captive insurance requirements.
- Help maintain and update our safety and tank compliance program.
- Assist in all aspects of development, implementation, and management of the Company's DOT Trucking Compliance files, vehicle inspections, hours of service, etc.
- Assists with EHS and OSHA compliance.
- Investigate, report, and monitor incidents.
- Report claims that require the insurance company to be involved.
- Frequent travel is expected to other cities.
- Previous safety experience helpful.
