Summary:
The Safety Manager will oversee, plan, and execute standardized safety initiatives to ensure compliance and best practices to protect the health and safety of the organization’s employees.This position will be based out of our Albemarle, NC facility with travel to support our Southeast locations in Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Reviews, revises, implements, and maintains the organizations safety policies and procedures.
- Leads all safety initiatives to include workplace injury avoidance, training, results, reporting, and accountability.
- Ensures OSHA compliance, as well as other state or local specific regulations.
- Maintains required OSHA logs and safety documentation.
- Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee and company compliance with safety policies and procedures.
- Manages Safety Committee and instills safety as a core value throughout the organization.
- Ensures proper procurement and handling of PPE in all locations.
- Leads accident investigation process to identify root causes and determine preventative solutions.
- Prepare and deliver safety programs that ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
- Collaborate and partner with company leaders and outside vendors to align safety efforts and initiatives.
Education, Experience & Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10 + years of experience in workplace safety.
- 5 + years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive success, influence change, and motivate others.
- A demonstrated “continuous improvement” mindset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Working Conditions:
- Use of standard office equipment, such as computers, copiers, printers, and phones.
- Long periods of sitting in an office environment.
- Ability to walk and stand throughout the manufacturing facility.
- Travel to regional facilities will be required with overnight travel up to 40%.
- May require occasional work outside of standard office hours.
- May on occasion need to life up to 50 lbs.
- While work is primarily indoors, exposure to extreme outdoor weather conditions is possible.
- Exposure to mechanical hazards and sharp objects.
- PPE required in certain work areas to include safety gloves, safety glasses, ear protection, and hard hat when required.
