Maintenance Technician

We are currently accepting applications for a restaurant facilities professional to join our team. Qualified applicants for the Maintenance Technician position must be a self-starter and will work independently to manage projects and actively maintain the facilities and equipment for an assigned group of restaurants primarily in our California Market. The Maintenance Technician will complete necessary repairs and perform preventive procedures in a manner responsive to customer/employee safety and to preserve company assets in a safe and cost-effective manner.

Key Job Duties

• Maintenance and repairs of all cooking appliances and minor building repairs that include: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and floor tile repairs.
• Responsible for minor HVAC and refrigeration repairs.
• Completes repair orders as assigned. Gives priority items preference and advises director of any delays.
• Inspects building and equipment upon arrival at each location for any issues that need to be addressed.
• Maintains inventory of parts, tools, equipment and other items.
• Performs duties as prescribed in the Preventive Maintenance System.
• Ensures that building and equipment are maintained in a safe manner, and that all repairs are made as specified by manufacturer.
• Complies with company policies on safety at all times while performing work efficiently while protecting self, fellow workers and customers.

Below are some of the duties related to the varied areas of restaurant facilities. This list is not meant to be all-inclusive—additional responsibilities/duties will be assigned.

Appliance Repairs

• Repair all gas and electrical appliances including: Grills, toasters, deep fryers, microwaves, proofers, food warmers, mixers, slicers, broilers, stoves, ovens, fryer filters, and interior grease interceptors.

General Building Maintenance

• Repair and replacement of doors, door locks and hinges.
• Repair to floor tile.
• Repairs to walls.
• Installation of shelves.
• Miscellaneous carpentry work.
• Minor repairs to asphalt (temporary) and cement.
• Addition and replacement of circuit breakers.
• Replace switches and receptacles.
• Replace motors.
• Minor roof leak repairs.
• Minor electrical repairs including: Light switches, receptacles, circuit breakers, and wiring.

Plumbing Repairs

• Repair/replace faucets.
• Repair urinal and commode flushometers
• Repair/replace leaking water supply lines.
• Replace sink drain lines (above floor).
• Installation/replacement of hot water tank.

HVAC and Refrigeration Repairs

• Replacement of blower motors and condenser/evaporator motors.
• Minor ice machine repairs (motors, pumps, etc.).
• Clean condensers.
• Unclog evaporator drain lines.
• Periodically lubricate appropriate HVAC bearings.
• Assist with advanced repairs up to and including system replacement.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years repairing and servicing commercial food service equipment.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• Must have basic commercial HVAC knowledge and experience.
• Must have extensive knowledge and plumbing experience (copper and PVC).
• Must have a strong knowledge of commercial refrigeration of various sizes.
• Must have basic knowledge of electrical circuitry and wiring.
• Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to frequently reach, carry, bend, twist, kneel, and squat.
• Must be able to lift and carry 100lbs on occasion.
• Must be able to climb a ladder and not have an issue with heights.
• Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
