Job description
JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of a physician and the Respiratory Therapy Manager, administers prescribed respiratory therapy procedures, performs a variety of technical procedures and assists in the cleaning, maintenance, and disinfection of cardiopulmonary equipment.
Requirements:
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education: Graduate of an approved JRCRTE Program, CRT or RRT
B. Personal Job-Related Skills: Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills.
C. Licensure: Credentialed by the NBRC as an RRT or CRT or awaiting NBRC exam. Current Texas licensure as Respiratory Care Practioner (RCP)
D. Experience:
1. Prior Work Experience: Six months to 1 year experience as a Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist..
2. Technical Training: Current BLS Healthcare Provider required, ACLS AND PALS preferred. Basic computer skills required.
E. Physical and Mental Requirements: Requires repetitive physical activity. Able to walk and stand to perform duties. Ability to lift materials 20-50 pounds. Ability to move patients of all age groups necessary. Adequate hearing and eyesight is necessary.
Exposures to working environment that may include odors, low lightning, and crowded working conditions.
Repeated bending, stooping, and reaching is required. Pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds and carrying may be required during the patient treatment process, or when transferring or supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless. Must be physically able to operate equipment used in the job. Vision requirements include close, distance, color vision and the ability to adjust focus; must be able to hear conversation in order to interact with physicians, patients, staff, family members and other team members. The work environment may be subject to noise from equipment. Stressful situation involving patients may occur during treatment. Employees are exposed to patient elements.
