Location: * Cottonwood Residential Treatment Facility - *Cape Girardeau, MO
Full-Time: Non-Exempt - 40hrs / week
Base Pay: $20.77 - $23.18/hour - Dependent upon previous Psychiatric Experience

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• Must hold, at minimum, a valid MO LPN License
• Must be knowledgeable in psychotropic medication, psychopathology, and counseling methods.

The Program
Cottonwood is a 16 Bed Residential Treatment Facility serving children and adolescent patients. The program is intended for youth 7-18 years of age. The program offers an intensive residential treatment milieu and serves an alternative to hospitalization. Services include psychiatry, individual and group therapy, recreational, nursing and medical services, family therapy and family services. In cooperation with the Cape Girardeau Public Schools, on-site educational services are provided
Your Job as the Residential Nurse:
As the Nurse, you would be responsible for providing direct therapeutic and consultative psychiatric nursing duties for coordination and provision of medication administration, medication consultation, and education to clients and family members.

Essential Functions:

• Preparation and administration of medications to the residents, utilizing the six rights of medication administration

• Provide education services to clients, family and/or caregivers as to medication usage, side effects and adverse reactions.

• Provide consultation with psychiatrists regarding residents and any issues with medications, school or milieu.

• Provide education and consultation to clinicians regarding clients’ medications, side effects, and adverse reactions.

• Order and maintain inventory of medications. Maintain medication storage according to policies and procedures.

• Give PPD tests to employees and clients as needed.

• Document in a timely and in a complete manner according to policies and procedures.

• Promptly respond to client medication inquiries, needs, problems or side effects in effective manner consistent with practice standards.

• Perform phlebotomy for lab tests for residents as ordered by physicians. Complete laboratory requisitions completely and correctly.

• Assist psychiatrists with clinics for residents and assist with any information the psychiatrist may need.

• Respond to restraints, seclusions and escalated behavior of residents and assess client following episode.

• Consultation with psychiatrist regarding residents’ mental status during crisis intervention.

• Complete all required forms for restraint, seclusion and/or orders for eyesight/arms reach per policy and procedures and standards.

• Coordinate with Treatment Team in providing information needed for appropriate client treatment.
