CSG is seeking for a Resident Engineer. This is a FULL-TIME position.

SUMMARY

The Resident Engineer (RE) is responsible for the construction engineering and contract administration of all assigned projects. The RE must possess the technical expertise to match the type of project assigned. The type of projects entail water, sewer, transportation, electrical and facilities. The duties, functions and activities below relate to competency needed to manage capital improvements and meet the needs of the client, public, operations and maintenance, schedule, budget, and quality goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, develops budgets, and assigns work.
  • Reviews and approves contract changes.
  • Conducts meetings and makes presentations to staff.
  • Manages the staff and supports the Field inspection efforts.
  • Administer the construction contract.
  • Monitors the implementation of the contractor’s safety program.
  • Resolves technical and construction related problems.
  • Interfaces with the designer and client project manager on the resolution of technical problems.
  • Reviews and prepares responses to request for information (RFIs), potential change orders, schedules, and submittals
  • Monitors the environmental compliance activities and grant reporting.
  • Processes progress payments; reviews schedules, weekly statement of working days, costs, and change order work.
  • Manages construction documentation, contract records, and program compliance.
  • Develop cost control system, cost exposure logs, reporting procedures.
  • Monitor construction work by contractors.
  • Perform post construction evaluations (Lessons Learned).
  • Mentor junior department staff members.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5+ years CM experience.
  • Current California PE License highly desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Transportation, water, waste water or facility experience.
  • Knowledge of Caltrans’ standard plans and specifications, construction manual, and LAPM.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven excellent client relationship skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Requires extensive physical exertion during on-site inspection.
  • Will require physical flexibility and dexterity, including the ability to continually stand, bend, stoop, reach, crouch and climb.
  • May require sitting for long periods of time.
  • Working with detailed, finely printed documents.
