The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc seeks a qualified, intelligent, and motivated Research Technician to participate in a mouse neural circuits lab studying psychiatric disorders. The successful candidate will work directly with investigators performing duties as necessitated by ongoing experiments. The successful candidate must demonstrate good judgment and the ability to work without continuous supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1) Mouse colony husbandry of transgenic mouse lines
2) Histology: tissue sectioning & staining
3) Order inventory
4) Stereotaxic surgery implanting custom microdrives and viral infusions
5) Building custom microdrives for implantation
6) Behavioral testing mice
7) Scoring behavioral tests
8) Assist in data analysis via Matlab
9) Support on-going experiments as needed by investigators
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a related science
Minimum one year experience in mice behavior, particularly reward-seeking.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with MATLAB and in vivo recordings preferred.
