POSITION SUMMARY
Biomerica, Inc. is growing the Point-of-Care Assay Development team. We are working on a number of new projects, including a novel approach to move lateral flow assays to home testing. There are currently several opportunities including for a Research Associate, Research Scientist and Transfer Scientist position, all of which are key hands-on roles, requiring individuals familiar with immunoassay development activities. The candidates should be creative, “think out of the box”, analytical, hard-working team players preferably with experience in lateral flow assay development. The successful individuals also have excellent communication skills, are goal-oriented, and have a strong sense of ownership and drive to meet project goals and timelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Optimize and develop immunoassays for point-of care applications
· Design, perform, and analyze experiments, including:
o nanoparticle conjugations
o antibody screening and selection
o antigen screening, purification and modification
o assay-instrument integration
o statistical data analysis
· Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and present findings in a professional and knowledgeable manner
· Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams, including R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing in support of project objectives
· Develop new experimental approaches
· Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
- Research Associate: Bachelor’s in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a closely-related field, with a minimum of 0-1 year of experience in the development of immunoassays, biochemical or molecular biology-based assays.
- Scientist: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a closely-related field, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the development of immunoassays, biochemical or molecular biology-based assays; lateral flow assay development experience preferred.
- Transfer Scientist: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a closely-related field, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the development of immunoassays, biochemical or molecular biology-based assays; lateral flow assay development and manufacturing transfer experience preferred.
- Knowledge of/familiarity with IVD device product development under design
