JOB DESCRIPTION: Research Assistant

Overview: Upper Edge Consulting is a grant writing firm in Buffalo NY. We work with non-profit, for profit and municipal clients to find funding for a wide variety of projects that benefit communities across New York State.

We are looking for a research assistant to collaborate with our grant writers in finding funding opportunities for clients so we can keep a steady flow of opportunities coming their way. The research assistant would also do the upfront research on client grant applications.

The best candidates have a natural curiosity and tenacity for finding information. They are experienced with online searches and know how to tell fact from fiction. They have an eye for detail, are resourceful, highly organized, self-disciplined, comfortable working with little supervision, and have been involved with their community or done volunteer work with non-profits.

No experience in grant writing needed, but an interest in learning about it is.

We are a fully remote team of top-notch communicators who make our own schedules, get the work done, and support each other along the way.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research new grant opportunities that align with clients’ organizational missions, visions, values, and needs
  • Enter and monitor data to maintain list of new grant opportunities, constantly ensuring information is up-to-date
  • Assist grant writers by doing research for client grant opportunities, as well as supportive research for grant applications (i.e. demographics, finances, awards, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the team and keep us updated about research status
  • Attend weekly team calls/meetings
  • Attend some client calls/meetings

Required Skills / Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Journalism
  • 1-2 years online research experience
  • Technology proficiency: MS Office Suite, Zoom, Teams, OneDrive, Google

Salary/Hours: This is a part-time position, 10-20 hours a week, M-F, at $18 an hour; All employees who work a minimum of 20 hours a week are eligible for paid vacation.

Tools: Must have own computer and reliable internet access.

Location: US-based applicants, preferably in ET, CT, or MT time zones.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
