About the Position

OneEnergy Renewables is seeking a Renewable Business Development Associate. We develop solar sites where the energy market dynamics, grid interconnection rules, and land permitting requirements are often unknown or in flux. This role is important to help us navigate through the unchartered territory. This role consists of working directly with the development team to understand, identify, and secure optimal greenfield sites in order to cultivate a pipeline of viable, competitive solar sites to support our strategy. The Real Estate Specialist works with landowners, internal employees, legal counsel, utilities, due diligence teams, surveyors, and title professionals to develop consistent, bankable, and insurable solar energy projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with identification and acquisition of greenfield solar energy sites.
  • Support outreach efforts to prospective landowner partners, including coordinating mailing campaigns, identifying contact information, and processing data within internal systems.
  • Develop relationships with key landowners and work with them through lease options.
  • Maintain records of landowner outreach and contribute to the improved efficiency and efficacy of such outreach.
  • Conduct preliminary due diligence on new project sites and facilitate onboarding into internal systems.
  • Provide support with recording legal documents.
  • Communicate the status of real estate matters to internal and external partners.
  • Travel to project sites, county courthouses, and landowner residences as necessary to help in clearing real estate easement and title challenges
  • Perform initial diligence of local zoning ordinances and permitting to ensure future development of the project is also a key component of the role.
  • Order and review environmental site assessments ALTA surveys and title reports for potential site challenges.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of or background in the renewable energy industry is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
  • Organizational capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable deliverables to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated with proven ability to take ownership, initiative, and accountability.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and ability to execute and deliver under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and interface effectively with cross-functional employee groups and external stakeholders
  • Solid negotiating and problem-solving skills with emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Practical experience dealing with solar project development, including site identification, real estate acquisition, land and title matters, permitting, interconnection, and community outreach.

Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience working in renewable energy, real estate, sales, or law.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office/Office 365, Google Apps, Salesforce, and database management.
  • Experience negotiating land contracts is preferred.
  • Experience with land and title matters is preferred.
  • Experience with solar energy is preferred.
  • Experience in a sales environment is preferred.
  • Experience with project management is preferred.
