Walker Methodist is a non-profit, Minnesota-owned provider of senior living and health care communities in the metropolitan Twin Cities. Services include skilled nursing care, post-acute care, memory loss care, adult day program, assisted living, housing with services, short-term rehabilitation, and the Walker Methodist Foundation. Walker Methodist has been serving seniors and their communities since 1945.
The position of Registered Nurse is an on-call position which supports the Assisted Living communities and their leaders off hours and weekends. This position is responsible to accept off-hour and weekend calls from AL community staff. This role provides direction and support to licensed and unlicensed staff in the provision of care to the community residents. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the performance of resident care in accordance with Walker
Methodist policies and applicable state laws.
Qualifications:
- Current, active licensure in the State of Minnesota as a Registered Nurse.
- Current BLS Certification.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of one year assisted living or long-term care experience.
- Previous experience working in an Assisted Living environment preferred.
- Previous experience working with an electronic medical record. Intermediate computer skills.
Responsibilities:
- Takes phone calls during assigned hours to provide timely response for resident and staff concerns based on sound clinical judgement and consistent with standards of practice and Walker Methodist policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance and clinical direction to home care licensed and non-licensed staff.
- Ensure that home care activity is documented accurately and timely.
- Prioritize resident care based on health, functional, psychosocial and vulnerability assessment and reassessment.
- Promptly notify Director of Health Services or Executive Director of Housing of VA matters, performance challenges or other critical community concerns.
- Function as a resident advocate for care concerns.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.
