The Hematology and (BMT) Program operates within a continuum of levels of acute and chronic care services tightly coordinated with the patients’ primary care and specialty care physicians in the community. Adult Hematology services in a 32 bed unit located on the 4thFloor (west end) of the South Tower of the Medical Center (4SW). This includes 32 beds with 12 positive pressure rooms that are designated for the treatment of autologous and allogeneic stem cells, bone marrow transplant, and umbilical cord blood transplant patients. The average daily census is 31.
We use a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care throughout the continuum of the Hematology/Oncology/BMT Program services: Staff on 4SW provides procedures including chemotherapy/high-dose chemotherapy administration and monitoring, pain management and patient controlled analgesia, metabolic support, stem cell, bone marrow, and umbilical cord blood infusions.
What you will be doing:
Registered Nurse assumes the responsibility and accountability of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. Registered Nurse makes clinical judgments and carries out related nursing interventions without supervision. Applies clinical knowledge regarding standard pattern of care to consolidate interventions for time and cost savings. Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory requirements in patient assignment making delegation of tasks, documentation. Coordinates care and demonstrates a dedication and commitment to their team and patients.
Educational, License, Certification and Other Requirements:
BSN Preferred
Current and valid CA RN License.
Current BLS certificate from the American Heart Association.
Specialty Certification is needed (OCN, Palliative Care, Pain Management), ONS Chemotherapy and Biotherapy or ONS Certification required or to be acquired within six (6) months of hire.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 year experience e as RN in acute care setting preferably in specialty. NOTE: (minimum 1 year recent acute RN experience will be considered for Registered Nurse II)

Educational Requirements:
Bachelors of Science in Nursing
Oncology certification (OCN or other oncology certification appropriate for BMT/Cell Therapy specialty) within one year
Licenses:
BLS upon hire
RN State License
Experience:
3 years Experience in an acute care setting (transplant, cancer,); Cell Therapy/BMT Transplant experience preferred
Physical Demands:
Lifting, standing, walking, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, balancing, kneeling, crouching, handling, grasping, hearing, talking. The physical ability and perceptive acuity to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions. Must be able to perform assigned duties in a demanding work environment.
