Industrial Engineer
GENERAL SUMMARY:
This candidate will be responsible for industrial engineering and developing technical projects for the Big Bird Debone West BU poultry locations: Mt. Pleasant, TX, Russellville, AL and Elberton, GA. The position is based in Nacogdoches, TX. Key to this role is an engineer who has previous food experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Developing engineering designs and specifications, cost estimates, time studies and material specifications.- Works with equipment vendors to plan layouts, utility requirements, and installation schedules.
- Budget responsibilities.
- Conducts comprehensive engineering planning, design, and operational studies in pre-project studies.
- Determines design criteria in accordance with required standards and codes for assigned projects.
- Prepares project documents including justifications, budget analyses, calculations, plans and schedules.
- Reviews and checks engineering projects submitted by the plants.
- Provides engineering guidance to plant personnel.
- Obtains permits, easements and other documents as required.
- Acts as project manager as required.
- Determines scope of work, prepares requests for proposals, evaluates proposals.
- Confers with legal counsel for interpretation of various engineering topics and potential problems.
- Oversees work of other subordinate level engineers.
BASIC SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4+ years industrial engineering or related experience required.
- Experience in food industry preferred
- Plant experience preferred
- Must be willing to travel 50% - 75% as needed to the other four plants within the BU – Mt. Pleasant, TX, Russellville, AL and Elberton, GA.
- Computer skills to include a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field
