South Mississippi Regional Center is a program of the Mississippi Department of Mental Health providing care and support for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. We are currently seeking individuals who are energetic and compassionate team players and motivators for direct support positions at all of our locations. Each position at SMRC is an important and impactful role that provides our individuals with the appropriate level of care to meet their social, emotional, physical, and personal needs.

WORK LOCATION: Gautier
PAY: $31,744.97 Annually

SCHEDULE/SHIFTS: Tuesday – Saturday or Sunday - Thursday 12:00pm - 8:30 P.M. Variations in the schedule as necessary to include nights and weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in planning and directing a program of recreational activities. Selects necessary materials, equipment, scenery, or costumes for planned recreational activities. Assists in the in-service training of new workers and staff development as necessary. Also, assists in carrying out formal training programs and entering the data into the charting system. Observes and reports on the results and progress of recreational activities to include participation and reactions. Assists in supervising volunteer workers, attendants, or helpers. Coaches, instructs and supervises games, teams, and athletic events. Assists in organizing and supervising indoor games, dances and parties. Works with special groups or individuals. Assists with daily needs of individuals including transporting, feeding, hygiene, grooming, assisting in the bathroom, etc. Requisitions and cares for recreational equipment. Related or other duties as required or assigned.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED or High School Equivalency Diploma) AND 1 year of experience related to the above described duties. Related education and related experience may be substituted on an equal basis. Must have a MS Driver license, or a license from a contiguous state. Must be eligible to drive State of Mississippi vehicles.
