Job description
This position works with children and/or adults with disabilities and/or challenging behaviors in community recreational settings or sites as assigned by the Manager or Recreation Assistant.
Provides respite care and assistance to individuals in basic social and recreational activities in both indoor and outdoor settings. Assists individuals as needed with personal care, mobility and communication. Follows through on plans and preparations for individual and group recreational activities. Monitors recreation program and activities in progress to ensure individuals are involved, properly supervised and safe. Operates Board-owned vehicles as assigned to transport ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals to/from community activities in a safe manner. Monitors maintenance of vehicle and cleanliness, re-fuels vehicles. Reports any vehicle issue to the Recreation Manager or designee. May give medication or perform delegated nursing tasks, if authorized. Responds to emergencies and provides basic first aid care as needed. Prepares and maintains records and reports (e.g. daily activity sheets, medication care, incident reports, progress in program participation, individual behavior program); informs Recreation Manager of individuals' progress, problems, and behavior.
Attends and participates in scheduled special events, training sessions, in-services, and designated staff meetings. Completes quarterly and annual required Board training.
Must be at least 18 years old; High School Diploma or GED; Valid driver's license with two years of driving experience and acceptable driving record to be certified to drive Board vehicles and transport individuals (requires successfully passing pre-employment physical and driver safety training). All certifications must be maintained after employment. Ability to obtain CPR/FA certification and maintain certification after employment.

Part-time Employees (Non-Benefits Eligible) (20 hours or less per week): Benefits include Long Term Sick Leave Accrual, Paid Personal Leave, and holiday pay for hours scheduled to work on holidays.
Seasonal Employees: Benefits include Sick Leave accrued at 4.6 hours for every eighty 80 hours in active
pay status. Seasonal employees scheduled to work 40 hours during their period of employment will accrue vacation in the same manner as regular full-time employees and can use their vacation after completion of twenty-six (26) bi-weekly pay periods in active pay status. Part-time Seasonal employees (scheduled to work less than 40 hours) do not accrue vacation.
Intermittent and Temporary Employees: Long-Term Sick Leave accrual is based on hours worked.
