Position Title: Ranch Laborer

Department: Live Production

Reports to: Ranch Manager

Purpose of Position:

To assist Ranch Manager on various tasks that needs to be performed to keep ranch well maintained and ensure bird well being.

Essential Job Functions:

Assist in the management of the ventilation of poultry houses and flock health. Maintain cleanliness of ranch. Follow the highest standard of biosecurity. Identify and problem solve issues on the ranch and report any abnormalities to Ranch Manager. Assist in the cleanup and set up of new flocks, unloading of chick or poultry placements. Assist in the care of young poultry through brooding phase in accordance to brood protocol and best practices. Manage feed inventory and proper feeding practices. Maintain accurate and precise records for ranch (ex. Mortality, weekly weights, weekly feed increases, feed consumption, pesticide usage etc. Responsible for all aspects of productivity, health, and welfare for all flocks on ranch. Responsible for working safely. If living on-site, responsible for responding to emergencies on the ranch day or night. Able to run the farm on Managers day off.

Working Conditions:

Physical demands can vary day-to-day but includes standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and climbing. Environmental conditions can vary as well but can be cold, hot, wet, noisy, and dusty. May be required to work without assistance.

Requirements:

· Preferred High School Diploma/GED, basic math skills

· Must be self-motivated with problem solving skills and time management

· Must be able to work with minimal supervision

· Must be able to work well with other people and manage time

· Must be able to work as needed: may include nights, holidays, weekends

· Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and farm equipment

· May be required to work alone or on other ranches

· Operate house control panels

· Must be able to communicate via email, text, phone, in-person

· May be required to use smart phone

· Must be willing to learn to drive tractor

· Must be able to follow basic best practice protocols

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
