Port Jefferson Surgery Center is offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced Radiology Technician to join our ASC team in Port Jefferson Station, NY.

Summary: Provide radiological services with c-arm during surgical/procedural services.

Required Licenses/Certifications: Current RRT license for New York. BLS preferred.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrates competence in x-ray technologist skills.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in technical skill relevant to area.
  • Demonstrates competence of sterilization practices.
  • Demonstrates proficient use of equipment.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in procedure preparation.
  • Maintains established safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Reports infractions to supervisor.
  • Respects patients/introduces self to patient.
  • Examines radiologic film for density and contract, definition, magnification, and distortion.
  • Effectively communicates center, organizational, and industrial information to staff.
  • Attains all agreed to goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the organization's overall mission.
  • Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety, center/service safety, and specific job related hazards.
  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.
  • Follows the center exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.
  • Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as the leader of the center team inter- and intra-center to facilitate the center's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
  • Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly central processing area (e.g., shelves, counters, equipment). Adheres to sterilization process policies and procedures. Ensures that each item is cleaned according to manufacturer's instructions.
  • Initiates proper inspection of instruments under a microscope for damage and defect. Determines whether each item is in good working condition.
  • Follows all policies and procedures when sorting, arranging, and wrapping individual items into proper trays.
  • Correctly operates sterilizers, ultrasonic washer, and other processing equipment (i.e., positions items correctly in sterilizer, selects proper cycle, seeks assistance when needed)

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduate of an accredited program. One-year related experience. Experience with OEC 9900 C-Arm necessary and mini view C-arm experience preferred.

No "call", no weekends or holidays. This is a Full-time position with competitive salary and benefits (health, dental, vision, disability, life insurances and 401k). Start time of shift may vary to accommodate surgery schedule during operating hours of 6am-5pm.
