Job description
The Radiologic Tech administers roentgen rays to patients. Operates x-ray equipment, processes images, and prepares patient's exam room, equipment, supplies and contrast media. Provides patient services using imaging modalities.

- Uses ALARA and safety principle at all times.
- Complies with patient care requirements of all regulatory agencies including working knowledge of policies.
- Creates an environment of safe delivery of patient care and functions with a constant awareness of safety issues. Corrects and reports any unsafe conditions found immediately.
- Practices aseptic technique, isolation and infection control procedures.
- Maintains awareness of and location of information manuals.
- Adheres to the Radiation Safety, Material Safety Data Sheet and Fire/Safety policies and procedures. Identifies where information manuals are located.
- Administers contrast as needed per exam.
- Instructs and prepares patients for radiographic/ Fluoroscopic examinations and assists Radiologist during procedures.
- Operates all x-ray equipment and systems as assigned.
- Reports equipment malfunctions to manager or lead.
- Completes all assigned procedures in a timely manner and uses time between procedures to department advantage assisting others, clerical duties, stocking, transporting, etc
- Understands his/her role in maintaining medication security to authorized personnel only.
- Provides health care services in own job category to all age groups.
- Demonstrates competence in interpersonal relationships to all age groups.
- Utilizes Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS) and PACS.
- Participates in hospital performance improvement activities (BPI projects, task forces, etc) when requested.
- Demonstrates confidentiality using own password and all patient care systems.
- Answers telephone inquiries of a technical nature from physicians or hospital personnel in other area of the hospital while maintaining good phone etiquette
- Keeps assigned work areas clean and office/medical supplies stocked. Reorders through appropriate personnel when supplies are low.
- Recognizes and performs duties which need to be performed although not directly assigned.
Education
Graduate from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
License / Certification Requirements
ARRT License for Radiologic Technologist
Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)
Fluoroscopy License - New hires have 6 months from date of hire to obtain
BCLS or ACLS Certification
Compensation Range
$48.49 - $48.49 / Hour
