Talascend is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Race Dynamometer Technician for a long-term contract opportunity in Chesterfield Township, MI.

SUMMARY:
The main function of a race dynamometer technician is to maintain, operate, and troubleshoot high level race engine dynamometer cells. A typical race dynamometer technician is responsible for completing minor engine modifications as directed by leadership.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare engines for testing.
• Setup all necessary sensors and analysis equipment necessary for testing.
• Troubleshoot engines and engine managements systems for faults.
• Install engines on dynamometer.
• Run specific tests directed by Test Engineers.
• Log test data and transfer to database.
• Provide Test Engineers with requested data plots from testing.
• Work in a team of engineers from various disciplines and cultures.
• Communicate status of projects in oral presentations and written reports.
• Travel locally as requested.
  

SKILLS:

• Knowledge of basic electronic concepts and the ability to read electrical schematics.
• Working knowledge of AVL Dynamometer software and Puma.
• Working knowledge of Combustion analysis equipment.
• Knowledge of race engine diagnostics and service procedures and systems.
• Strong skills in hands-on engine work.
• Interpersonal skills required to work with others from various disciplines and cultures.
• Working understanding of electronic engine management systems.
• Knowledge and experience with vehicle mechanical and electrical systems.
• Clean state driver's license and driving record.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong level of analytical ability and problem-solving skills
• Basic typing and math skills.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Associate degree in Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience required.
