Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Ensure product safety, regulatory compliance, and compliance with company standards as stated in the Quality Assurance Manual, Laboratory Manual, and Company directives.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement efforts in product quality/performance and process optimization
  • Provide leadership, coaching, education and training to management staff and employees for Quality Assurance and food safety.
  • Implementation and training of the Corporate HACCP program as well as prerequisite programs
  • Manage customer complaints.
  • Review all product labels used in the facility and ensure adherence to regulatory and Company standards.
  • Oversee the operation of the plant laboratory, including ensuring supplies and equipment are available.
  • Supervise the appropriate chemical, bacteriological, sensory and utilization tests on raw materials and pasteurized products.
  • Communicate quality metric and inspection results to appropriate managers and others in leadership positions including, but not limited to daily, weekly or monthly KPI reporting to corporate.
  • Ensure that proper sanitation procedures are utilized and that adequate sanitation tests are performed; provide troubleshooting efforts in the event of sanitation system failure.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of all required quality tests and activities.
  • Manage local, state, customer/third party, and federal audits and inspections.
  • Ensure adherence to all contract packaging quality requirements, as well as other customer requirements.
  • Cooperate in a cross-functional manner as a change agent with all departments in the organization.

Qualifications

  • A Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a food science or scientific based area of study.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years hands-on plant experience in the food industry, with a minimum of 8-10 years of management experience.
  • Preventive Controls Qualified (PCQI) certification preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience working a Quality Management System (QMS) under Global Safety Initiative (GFSI) and HACCP.
  • Excellent knowledge of FDA and FSMA standards.
  • Possess a very solid knowledge of sanitation systems, techniques, procedures and pasteurization/post-pasteurization processes.
  • Experience dealing with FDA in acidified and acid foods (21 CFR 114 and 108.25).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Read, speak, and write English proficiently.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
