Byrnes & Kiefer Company is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to support operations at our Hermitage, PA facility. This role would monitor and assess finished products and practices in a production setting to ensure standards are met. He or she will be responsible to ensure that all proper tests and documentation are completed accurately and available for review and inspection as needed.
Job Tasks:
- Maintain testing records with testing procedures and specifications for each product
- Conduct finished product testing to approve products during production
- Preparation of products for sensory evaluation – including mixing and baking
- Maintain quality control logs – data collection and analysis
- Problem solving skills to identify and execute appropriate corrective actions necessary when product falls out of specifications
- Assist with QA investigations into root cause analysis for product returns and non-conforming material in house
- Interface with production personnel to solve problems, enhance quality, and assess manufacturability of new and/or existing products
- Conducts and assists with routine verification and inspection activities
- Interface with external auditors from SQF, FDA, or PA Department of Agriculture
- Assists with maintaining documentation for SQF Program including: policies, production forms, product specifications and labels
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in food manufacturing, or high volume bakery
- Experience with GMPs, quality testing procedures
- Good organization and time management skills
- Experience with testing methods and documentation
- Comfortable with baking products for analysis
- Proficiency with PC software including MS Office Suite - Excel, Outlook, Word
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SQF and HACCP
- Degree in Food Science or other science related field
