Reports To: Quality Assurance Manager
Summary:
The Quality Assurance (QA) Lab Analyst supports Quality, Research and Development and Operations through analysis and testing of finished products, raw materials, and other activities relating to product development and quality. This position is responsible for monitoring quality assurance systems including instrumentation calibration, maintenance, cross-checks, methods, procedures, raw materials, safety, and training.
Essential Functions:
- Tests and updates existing products within given specifications for internal and external customers to ensure quality.
- Creates and maintains product standards library through the addition and replacement of new and old intermediates.
- Audits and maintains flavor library by updating SDS digital records as necessary. Inspects incoming flavors to ensure consistency with previous shipments and works with vendors to resolve any discrepancies.
- Analyzes upcoming material expirations and updates dispositions accordingly.
- Troubleshoots intermediate batches and line samples.
- Performs general lab tasks, including sample preparation and sensory analysis.
- Maintains operating system databases to include updating COA library, creating specifications in Oracle, and updating daily spreadsheets.
- Manages the sensory training program by planning and conducting trainings for tasters. Records and tracks trends of tasting results gathered during sensory training.
- Ensures lab equipment is maintained and calibrated. Makes recommendations for the ordering of lab equipment and supplies.
- Aids in addressing complaints, completing investigations, and providing resolutions.
- Participates in Quality Audits and provides back-up to Quality Technicians.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.

- Must have the ability to conduct a comprehensive investigation considering multiple possibilities including documenting hypotheses, observations, conclusions as well as possible solutions without bias or favor.
- Must have an intermediate understanding of facility equipment and machinery and how various materials impact machine performance as well as product quality and safety.
Required Education & Experience:
- Ability to maintain current knowledge, skills and/or certifications relevant to assigned job responsibilities.
- A bachelor's degree in food science, chemistry, biology, microbiology, or related field.
- 1-3 years of related work experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Previous experience working in a laboratory setting.
- Previous R&D or Quality experience in the food & beverage industry.
- GFSI experience a plus.

Work Location & Travel Required:
This position works on-site reporting to the Princeton location. Work-related travel is occasionally required.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- This position requires the ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time, including the dexterity to frequently type on a keyboard.
- Requires the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Involves frequent exposure to noise and the ability to stand on a hard surface for extended periods of time.
- Work is primarily performed indoors in a lab, office and/or production floor setting.
