Great news! We have a full-time Buyer position open at our Saint John, IN location. As a Schillings Buyer, you will be responsible for ensuring product availability, quality, and cost effectiveness. You will maintain strong partnerships with all vendors, meet operations’ product needs on a timely basis, and evaluate/recommend new products to enhance standards, including increasing profitability.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all purchasing functions
• Perform SKU maintenance; manage dead SKU’s and inventory
• Identify growth opportunities and monitor market competitiveness
• Direct inventory and supplier management
• Negotiate better pricing, including looking for different sources/vendors to buy from, existing or new items & project quotes
• Forecast and plan multiple supply source demands
• Ensure the timely delivery of products and compliance with Schilling programs
• Analyze reports, inventory, and purchasing date including document discrepancies
• Return all phone calls by priority & no later than end of day
• Any other tasks or areas of responsibility that management or Schilling family deem

Education/Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of Buying experience, preferably in building materials
• Advanced computer skills
• Experience with purchasing programs, language, proposals
• Advanced math skills
• Ability to multi-task and self-motivated to meet deadlines
• Driven and adaptable
• Highly organized with ability to plan, prioritize, and follow through with strong time management skills
• Team player that also can work independently
• Maintain positive relationships with internal/external customers and staff
• Excellent negotiation, customer service, and consulting skills
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills required along with solid critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Strong research background, including market knowledge in various business/regions desired
