Michigan State University Center for Counseling & Psychiatric Services (CAPS) provides a wide range of mental health services for students on campus, including and not limited to: screening/triage appointments, individual and group therapy, psychiatric services, outreach and multicultural engagement, clinical care coordination, intensive integrated clinical services, and hospitalization coordination and support.

Half-time Psychiatrist will provide direct service to college students and their spouses as part of a multidisciplinary care team comprised of psychologists, social workers, care managers, psychiatric nursing staff and primary care providers. Seeking candidates with experience working with college-age students and a multicultural international population; and experience in outpatient psychiatry including psychopharmacology, crisis intervention and brief psychotherapeutic intervention for mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance abuse and psychotic disorders.

Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8AM-6PM, with no after-hours or weekend call. Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired through completion of more than three years of study beyond a four-year college degree, such as a Medical Doctorate or Osteopathic Doctorate degree; up to six months of related experience in a clinical environment after completion of residency; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and a license from the Michigan Board of Pharmacy and either the Michigan Board of Medicine or the Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery; and board certification in psychiatry.

Desired Qualifications

Experience working with college age students and a multi-cultural international population; willingness to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team; outpatient psychiatry experience including psychopharmacology, crisis intervention and brief psychotherapeutic intervention for mood disorders, anxiety disorders, attention deficit disorders, eating disorders and psychotic disorders; experience in peer review, committee work, quality improvement initiatives and electronic medical records.
