UT Regional One Physicians is currently seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at our downtown location.

JOB SUMMARY: This NP who will provide patient care by assessing patient needs, including psychological assessments/check in, management of psych medication, ordering and interpreting diagnostic and laboratory tests, diagnose illness and disease, prescribe medication, and formulate treatment plans.

Psychiatric nurses track patient progress and report their results to doctors, including psychiatrists and psychologists. They work with other medical professionals to evaluate or change treatment plans. Plus, they educate patients’ families about mental illness, treatment and prevention.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner degree preferred. Additional training may be required for specialty areas. Qualified by education, training or experience to work with the adult and/or geriatric patient population as specialty assignment dictates.

EXPERIENCE: Twenty-four (24) months clinical experience as a Registered Nurse. One (1) for more years’ experience as a psychiatric NP experience required. Demonstrated ability to independently work and make clinical assessments. Additional experience may be required in assigned specialty area.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION: Nurse Practitioner certification or registry eligible required. Current licensure as RN in State of Tennessee. Additional certification in specialty areas may be required (i.e., Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner). Eligible for Certificate of Fitness (Prescriptive privileges) in State of Tennessee required. BLS required.

American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner national certification highly preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Constant walking, standing; lifting and positioning patients/equipment; exposure to infectious agents. Visual acuity is needed to access color changes. Heavy Work - Exerting up to 150 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 30 pounds of force constantly to move objects. (May be further defined as "with or without assistance.")
