Position Description

This position supports Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) as part of the Assisted Outpatient Treatment Program (AOT), located at 1785 E. Sahara Suite 225, Las Vegas. The incumbent is responsible for performing nursing activities and service coordination as part of the AOT team. They will provide both clinic and field/home-based services to ensure our mission to help adults with mental illness improve their quality of life is met. This recruitment may be used to underfill a Psychiatric Nurse 2 position. Advancement to the higher level may occur after meeting the minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and endorsement of the appointing authority.

Dynamic work responsibilities include assessing and identifying patient health care needs; making comprehensive clinical observations and evaluations; preparing nursing care plans; administering medications as prescribed by a physician or designee; monitoring patients for medication side effects and/or allergic reactions; providing crisis intervention; assisting in the development of safety plan recommendations for patients; and ensuring compliance with CMS standards, established laws, regulations, and SNAMHS policies.

This is a full-time outpatient nursing position that works Monday through Friday from 8 AM-5 PM. Incumbents will be working an innovative variable schedule with overtime after 40 hours in a week. Please ensure your application or resume reflects your current nursing license information.

Minimum Qualifications

Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and one year of professional nursing experience; OR one year of experience as a Registered Nurse I in Nevada State service caring for individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

Informational Notes

  • A Bachelor’s degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or Associate’s degree in nursing and one year of experience.
  • Out of state applicants must have a temporary license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing at the time of appointment and must obtain permanent licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing as a condition of continuing employment.
