Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Compass Healthcare is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our outpatient Behavioral Health team. This candidate will provide continuity of care to patients in the psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP). The Psychiatrist or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is integral in the treatment and care of our clients and provides diagnostic assessments and psychiatric medication monitoring to adults and children with a wide range of disorders.

Qualifications

  • Must have 1-2 years of experience working treating psychotic, mood, and substance abuse disorders preferred.
  • Active registered nurse (RN) license in the state of Maryland
  • Board Certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills
  • Excellent skills in maintaining highly confidential information
  • Skilled in compiling clinical documentation in a timely manner
  • Experience working with an electronic medical record preferred

Duties

  • Assess patient’s mental and physical status based on symptoms.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including psychiatrists, psychologists, or nursing staff, to develop, implement, or evaluate treatment plans.
  • Consult with psychiatrists or other professionals when unusual or complex cases are encountered.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Distinguish between physiologically and psychologically based disorders and diagnose appropriately.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications for physical and mental health issues. Will plan and institute a course of treatment demonstrating knowledge of drug action, interaction, and reactions. Prescribe or recommend controlled medications according to existing core privileges.
  • Experienced, and able to provide treatment provision to adults, teens, and children
  • Comfort with using medical electronic records system for prompt documentation
  • Skilled in problem solving, crisis intervention and communication in a team care approach
  • Experienced in diagnosis, assessment and treatment planning
  • Thorough knowledge of the State of Maryland service definitions
  • Familiarity with community resources
  • Crisis intervention/risk assessment expertise
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Understanding of and ability to implement quality assurance practices

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract, Temporary

Pay: $120,263.00 - $129,021.00 per year
